Teaching Philosophy
My primary teaching goal is to foster a life-long love of music in my students.
I strive to give every student the skills they need to immerse themselves in whatever kind of music they choose to pursue. In addition to the pieces we learn together, I encourage students to figure out how to play music they hear in their daily lives such as pop songs and movie and video game themes.
The most rewarding part of teaching is seeing a student grow from a small child into an amazing adult. Of course, this is also shocking when students I've known since they were 4 years old are suddenly driving!
While I set a high standard of playing for my students, and many continue playing after graduating, I hope to nurture students' development as good human beings first and foremost.
